In the communities of Yamaltu Deba LGA, the fight against Tuberculosis (TB) isn't just a clinical battle but also a human one. For patients who are remote, lack phones, and can't be traced, a positive TB diagnosis means their life-saving medicine often can't reach them. For these individuals, there is Umar, the core of CHAD's delivery strategy.
Umar is much more than a case worker; he is the key to getting TB care to those who need it most. His work is driven by a simple, profound mission: to make sure people get the comprehensive care they deserve.
The official health system often can't handle the final steps to the patient's home the difficult journey from the clinic to the patient's door. Umar is the caring bridge that closes this gap, directly fulfilling our goal to link people with TB to treatment.
He leads a powerful collaborative strategy, ensuring our case-finding work is successful:
He works side-by-side with local community volunteers to track down every untraceable patient, making sure no one is missed.
He coordinates closely with local health workers and government agencies to verify records and keep our data consistent.
This strong teamwork is how CHAD achieves significant treatment linkage rate for diagnosed cases. Umar personally knows the joy of seeing people like Amina and Esther get their lives back. As he observes, "When I see them cured, healthy, that is the reward."
